Feeling at Home

The setting

Lying in the privacy of fourteen acres of attractive gardens, with an abundance of fruit trees, and horse paddock, this is a lovely, spacious and fully staffed cortijo, recently restored while maintaining all of its original character.

The house faces west in a rural Andalucian valley, enjoying wonderful views of the Grazalema National Park, with a shady colonnade on one side and a very private courtyard, with trees and fountains, on the other. The pool garden is set a little away from the house, with shower, bar and dining facilities. The house sleeps up to twelve people. Ronda is ten minutes away. Jerez, Sevilla and Malaga are all about one and a half hours drive.

Things to Do

There is so much to do at El Noque – from visits to Ronda, Jerez, Seville, Granada, a day trip to Morocco, to the coast or nearby lakes, or to the pueblos blancos (white villages) which are found in this part of Spain.

If you can’t bear to tear yourself away from the house, the beauty and tranquility lends itself to peaceful reading, lying in the hammocks by the poolside or in dappled shade by the house. Or, in the cooler months, watching movies while enjoying the warmth of the fires and underfloor heating. There is also the option of playing table tennis and badminton, or tennis, a short drive away.

Activities

With numerous opportunities within easy reach we can facilitate riding, visiting gorgeous Andalucian horses, golf, tennis, shopping at Ronda’s Sunday market, walks and picnics, hot air ballooning and rafting to name but a few. Talk to the ever accommodating Renata before you go and she will give you the options and help make arrangements. The valley also provides a stunning backdrop for an idyllic wedding!

The Coast

The sea is an hour’s drive away. Beautiful beaches as well as markets, shopping, water parks and all the things you’d expect from Spain’s most popular coastal strip. Marbella is just an hour away down the mountain.

Restaurants, Food & Wine

Ronda and the surrounding valley are home to plenty of typical Spanish restaurants and, of course, tapas bars and of course the truly first class Tragabuches as well as the more traditional and delightful Ventas within minutes of the house.  El Muelle, Almbocabar and De Locos Tapas represent just a few of the huge choice offered in the area. We can recommend restaurants to suit your taste and style.

Alternatively, to combine delicious food while staying within the comfort of El Noque, you can book the brilliant Deborah to cook her speciality paella or an outstanding breadth of food to suit your desires. Or experience cooking with the freshest ingredients from the garden; warm fruit and vegetables and herbs to add depth to your dish.

Andalucian Diary

The Ronda festival in early September with its accompanying parades and bull fights is a big event in the area… but each nearby town has its equivalent if smaller ‘feria’.

Whilst some are fascinated by bullfighting it is not for everyone, however, a tour of the Ronda bullring is a must do. You can visit a bull breeding farm, a local bodega, a poncho factory, watch olive oil pressing, taste Sherry in Jerez and even have a flamenco evening arranged at El Noque. The opportunities really are endless.
